Carmabi research station

Carmabi is all about nature! It all started out as a Marine Research Institute in 1955 and have then broadly extended their research and education activities! On Curacao they actively manage three national parks: The Christoffel National Park; the largest national park of the island, an important Sea Turtle nesting area: Shete Boka National Park and The Curacao Marine Park, where they protect the reef and conduct scientific marine research to make a difference in restoring the coral reef.

Carmabi is excited to announce that there will be another park added to their management very soon! The Curacao Rif Mangrove Park.

Besides marine research, their team is also conducting terrestrial research on the island and – of course – in our national parks, to better understand the importance of nature.

Carmabi believes that it is crucial to share their findings with visitors of the island and with the people of Curacao. Through the educational programs and activities they offer, they strive to engage the local youth with nature and all of its beauty.
